While the weather outside may be cold and dreary, the inside does not have to be! The winter season is the perfect time to add new and exciting lessons and activities. Students are comfortable in the classroom but may secretly hope for snow days and delays. So, hands-on lessons help remind them how exciting it is to be in the classroom! Thankfully, there are so many fantastic options for winter-directed drawing activities! Students will love becoming artists in the classroom.
Directed Drawing for Winter
Drawing has always been a favorite activity for students! So, incorporating some art with content is an amazing way to bring learning alive in the classroom.
In the winter edition of the Directed Drawing bundle, students will design their artwork by following directions embedded onto the page. There are even templates for a polar bear and penguin! After creating their masterpiece, students can write about it. There are 10 differentiated templates so that all students, regardless of ability, can participate in the same drawing.
Be sure to check out the FREE Skating Penguin video to help guide students as they draw.
Directed Drawing Full Year Bundle
Students will love the winter directed drawing activities so much! Luckily, there is a bundle for the entire year. This includes over 60 directed drawing instructions, over 25 FREE videos, and 10 differentiated writing templates.
Best of all, the bundle will contain perfect pictures for the entire year. For instance, there are scarecrows and sunflowers in autumn, a rainbow frog in spring, and silly reindeer in winter. There are even pictures for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, farm studies, and insects. There will be something for all units throughout the year.
Directed Drawing for Math
Kids love drawing! Thankfully, this bundle of over 700 math task cards will show them how much they love math!
Students will answer questions and record their answers. Then, they will check the answer on the back of each card. If correct, they will add one detail to their directed drawing template. With the number of math task cards to pick from, the pictures turn out different every time. This means students are always excited to work on their math skills!
Math skills include doubles, addition with and without regrouping, and subtraction with and without regrouping. Students will even work on place value, missing addends, arrays, basic multiplication, time, money, and more!
Math will be so much fun with these activities!
Build a Picture for January
Students love math dice games, directed drawing, and writing about their art. So, this no-prep activity combines all three with math practice!
Specifically, there are 11 different game boards for each theme. Each includes a different math skill. These include adding on, roll and double, roll and triple, number recognition, and more! So, students will build their picture by rolling and then completing the math skill. This will then show them how to draw the next step of their picture. Additionally, there are 11 different generic writing templates to use with any of the game boards. Examples include simple sentence building, sequencing, self-editing, punctuation, comic dialogue, and more!
Students will have so much fun learning with the winter directed drawing activities! They will work on following directions, build their writing skills, and see how neat math is! Best of all, these activities will make this a year students always remember.
