Every year around this time I start to think about graduation, end of year certificates and awards. I promise myself that this time it won’t sneak up on me. I get determined to get things planned out well in advance so we have time to enjoy the last few weeks together as a class.
This year I’m using a pack of activities that takes care of all my planning for me. There’s so much inside that it takes several weeks to complete, and I can pick and choose the pages I want to do first.
You can see more of the pages inside by clicking on the preview HERE.
This workbook ends up being a nostalgic keepsake for students as they grow older. Plus, it’s no prep for the teacher, so that’s a win-win!
End of Year Certificates
Another must-have for end of year activities is student awards or certificates. It’s fun to choose which student will get each award and imagine how proud they will be. I prefer to give awards for growth mindset topics rather than academic, but both kinds are included in the pack I use. These also include editable versions to type student names. You can grab your own copy by clicking HERE.
Pro-tip: Here’s a different idea for you to try that really made an impact with my students. Write the categories on the board, and let students write their names under the one they think they should receive. This way, students create their own award and ensure they are proud. You could also turn this into a journal writing topic, such as “The award I hope to get is _____ because _____”. You might be surprised at the results! It’s such wonderful insight into how students see themselves. A small heads up though: one year a student didn’t think they deserved any awards for achievement. This was a tough conversation to have and I’m so grateful that I got the chance to convince my little friend that she was wrong about that.
